PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARIES

Since the United States declared its' independence on July 4, 1776, it has grown into the most powerful nation on Earth. Additionally, the office of its' head of state, the President of the United States, has grown into a position of both great power and prestige.

44 different individuals have held the office of President. The National Archives has established Presidential Libraries as repositories for the important documents and papers of some of these individuals both for research and to enrich the public's knowledge of their history and their leaders. Additionally, these libraries also serve in many cases as museums for these individuals to highlight their lives and careers.
